How to Use Job Bank Canada from India to Find Jobs Open to International Candidates
Job Bank is the Government of Canada’s free job board. You can search it from India, filter for jobs open to international candidates or linked to an LMIA, and apply directly to employers, without paying anyone.
Go to jobbank.gc.ca, search for your job title or occupation, then use the filters. Under “Intended applicants” choose “Canadians and international candidates”, and under LMIA you can choose “LMIA requested” or “Approved LMIA”. Apply using the method in each posting. A job posting is not a job offer: if you are hired, you still need a valid job offer, usually an LMIA, and a work permit from IRCC.
What is Job Bank Canada?
Job Bank is the Government of Canada’s national employment service, run by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). It lists jobs from Canadian employers across every province, and it has a section for candidates outside Canada that shows employers who are recruiting international candidates.
Official and free
It is a Government of Canada website. Searching and applying cost nothing.
Searchable by occupation
Search by job title or by NOC occupation code.
Employers apply for LMIAs
Postings can show whether an employer has requested or received an LMIA.

Which Job Bank filters matter most for Indian applicants?
| Filter | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Intended applicants: Canadians and international candidates | Shows jobs where the employer is open to candidates from outside Canada. |
| LMIA: requested / approved | Shows employers who have applied for, or received, a Labour Market Impact Assessment for the job. |
| Job source: Verified jobs | Shows jobs posted directly on Job Bank rather than copied from other job boards. |
| Exclude placement agencies jobs | Helps you deal with employers directly. |
How do you apply for a job on Job Bank?
Each posting has a “How to apply” section set by the employer, for example by email, the employer’s website, mail or in person. Prepare a Canadian-style resume (no photo, date of birth or religion is usually needed), a short cover letter for each job, and copies of experience letters. Apply only to jobs you are qualified for, and keep a record of every application.
What happens if an employer offers you a job?
Most employers need a positive LMIA from ESDC before you can apply for an employer-specific work permit, although some jobs are exempt. Before you accept, check the offer using our guide on how to verify a Canada job offer and LMIA, and read the work permit requirements.
Red flags when a “Job Bank job” reaches you on WhatsApp
- Someone asks you to pay for the job, the LMIA or a “job confirmation”. Since September 2022, Canadian rules prohibit employers from charging or recovering recruitment fees from temporary foreign workers, or using third parties who do.
- The posting cannot be found on jobbank.gc.ca or on the employer’s own website.
- The offer arrives without any interview or check of your experience.
- Payment is requested to a personal account, UPI ID or crypto wallet.
- You are told a visitor visa is enough to start working. It is not.
