“AG Food Company Canada” WhatsApp Number: What You Should Check First
Many people search for a WhatsApp number for “AG Food Company Canada” after seeing job ads on social media. Before you message anyone, here is what we found and how to check whether an offer is real.
Which company is “AG Food”?
We could not confirm one official company called “AG Food Company Canada” that recruits foreign workers through WhatsApp. Several real Canadian businesses have similar names, for example local AG Foods grocery stores in western Canada and AGT Foods, a food processing company headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan. These are different businesses, each with its own official website.
Scammers often use names that sound like real companies. A WhatsApp number on a poster or Facebook ad is not proof that you are talking to the company.
How to check any “AG Food” job offer
- Ask for the employer’s full legal name and address, then find its official website yourself.
- Search for the job on Canada’s official Job Bank.
- Check the name on the positive LMIA employers list (Open Government Portal) and the IRCC non-compliant employers list.
- Make sure emails come from the company’s own domain, not Gmail or Yahoo.
- Contact the company through its own website and ask if the offer is real.
What you should never pay
If you are hired from outside Canada for an LMIA job, the employer applies for and pays for the Labour Market Impact Assessment. Since September 26, 2022, employers are not allowed to charge or recover recruitment fees from foreign workers, directly or through a recruiter. You pay only the government fees, directly to IRCC on its official website: CAD 155 for a work permit and, if required, CAD 85 for biometrics.
Warning signs
- Contact only through WhatsApp, Facebook or Telegram.
- An offer letter from a free email address such as Gmail or Yahoo.
- A request to pay for an LMIA, “visa processing”, a “job reservation”, training or a medical booking.
- A job offer without any interview.
- Pressure to pay quickly because “seats are limited”.
If this happens, stop, do not send money or documents, and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. In Pakistan you can also report to the FIA Cybercrime Wing, and in India at cybercrime.gov.in.
