Canada Spouse Visa from Pakistan 2027
How a Canadian citizen or permanent resident sponsors a husband or wife living in Pakistan: eligibility, fees in rupees, the documents IRCC expects and the steps from start to landing.
Who can sponsor a spouse from Pakistan
A spouse visa for Canada is really a permanent residence application under the family class. Your partner in Canada is the sponsor, and you are the principal applicant. If approved, you become a permanent resident, not a visitor.
The sponsor
Must be at least 18 and a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident living in Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Indian Act. A Canadian citizen living abroad must show they will live in Canada once you become a PR.
The relationship
You can be sponsored as a spouse (legally married), a common-law partner (lived together for at least 12 months) or a conjugal partner in limited cases.
The undertaking
The sponsor signs a promise to support you financially for 3 years from the day you become a permanent resident.

PKR amounts use a mid-market rate of about 1 CAD = PKR 198 (late October 2026), rounded. IRCC charges in Canadian dollars, so the rupee amount on your card statement depends on your bank's rate on the day you pay, and banks often add a margin of several percent. Medical exam, police certificate, translation and VFS charges are extra. See the full Canada visa fee in Pakistani rupees guide.

Usually not for a spouse or partner. A minimum income applies only in special cases, such as sponsoring a dependent child who has their own children.
